While perusing pinterest the other day, I stumbled across an interesting pin. Actually, another boxer had pinned it first and I re-pinned, but that’s how pinterest goes. 🙂 Anyway, the pin involved using markers on an acrylic block, spritzing it with water and then stamping the drippy ink on paper. I just happened to be carving a stamp for a card that I thought this technique would work for.
Now, I am not one for following instructions. I did start with an acrylic block, but I used my super awesome watercolors and slopped some on the acrylic. Then, I smacked that puppy on to some watercolor paper. It looked something like this:
When I lifted it up it looked pretty cool. I did do a little of extra blending and adjusting with a wet paintbrush though. After it dried, I embossed my stamp over the watercolor background and it came out like this:
My stamp and block were much larger than I needed so I cut those babies in half and added a “frame” between the layers. The end result was:
